CEO, Hospital & Health Care

Ben Quirk

Ben Quirk's Bio:

The future of healthcare has arrived, and organizations throughout the industry are seeking to navigate and thrive within the new marketplace of health care delivery. I provide executive leadership to accomplish these goals, blending business and technical expertise to meet new challenges and overcome barriers to success.

Ben Quirk's Experience:

  • Chief Operations Officer - Interim at TempDev Inc

TempDev's focuses on utilizing technical resources to maximize usability and return on investment for Electronic Health Record systems. In my short term position as COO, I lead efforts to employ a previously outsourced development staff in order to improve reliability and quality. At the same time, the CEO and I doubled Y/Y revenue while maintaining a 30% cost of labor.

  • Senior Integration & Technical Consultant at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center

After being cited by a grand jury for lack of clinical integration and quality, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and the Health and Hospital System were mandated to implement technology and practices to correct the cited deficiencies. Quirk Healthcare in conjunction with CTG Healthcare implemented NextGen EHR to provide medical point of care data across the seven community health centers, a 100 physician specialty network, the county corrections facilities, and into the hospital. I personally served as the EHR Application Project Manager, leading a roll out the technology and corresponding workflows 300 physicians and 1200 users in a ten month period. During this time, I had to course correct a failed IT initiative, leading a previously disjointed team to become effective and collaborative.

  • Electronic Health Record - Clinical Integration Initiative at Hill Physicians Medical Group

Faced with increasing competition between vertically integrated Kaiser and expanding Sutter Health, Hill Physicians clinically integrated their 2500 independent physicians (in 1000 different locations). By using the increased quality and lower cost created through such clinical integration, Hill Physicians was able to win a narrow network deal with CalPERS (the largest purchaser of health care benefits and the nation's largest pension fund) in 2005, well before the concept of ACO had even been devised. As a result, Hill Physicians has been able to remain independent and expanded each year while competitors have been taken over by local hospitals and insurers.
